Perspectives on 2.0, Library 2.0 and the Future of Libraries

I think the future of libraries depends on the open-mindedness, flexibility and creativity of the so-called gate keepers. Technology enables us to hide behind the scene and create whatever paradigm that suits us. But as the playing field levels--more emerging technology, the potentiality of libraries surviving becomes questioned.

The presence of the human element in libraries and library schools is critical.

Technorati

Richard J, CEO of Technorati had a interesting conversation. Hopefully, we will eventually get past the buffering on You Tube and enjoy a seamless conversation. Great info but difficult delivery mechanism.

Del.icio.us

Very convenient tool. Dr. Pavlovsky introduced me to Del.icio.us in summer of 2008. It's is much more user friendly now than then.

Rollyo

My search roll created on Rollyo is PhyllisMLIS@SC&I". Is mainly about education at Rutgers and my tags are related to that.

LibraryThing

Toni Morrison is my fave!

RSS Feeds and Newsreader s

There are some interesting RSS feeds on Blogline and about everywhere else you look. I've subscribed to nearly most of them. I wonder when will I have time to review them? Hmmmm in 2010? Yeah, that's when. I've been collecting them in my head, now I just have to scramble around to find them and subscribe now that I'm set up!

Wireless Presenter w/ Cursor Control

In my job, I do a large amount of presentations to the public and to my Team Members. I generally run back and forth to the screen to emphasize important points. It is a lot to do after walking the compound all day and smiling with all the customers. So, I finally remembered to check on a presentation pointer when I was in Staples yesterday. I found a great one by Targus. It's a combination remote control mouse and laser pointer. With this pointer you can control cursor movement anywhere within 50 feet of its receiver and project a red laser pointer beam. How nifty is that?
